DRIVING INSTRUCTOR - VOLUNTEER

Can you spare an hour or two occasionally? Do you have a clean NSW driving licence and bundles of patience!!  One of the many challenges that face new immigrants is not being able to drive. Having a license can be the difference between finding employment or not. That’s why Community Northern Beaches offers the learn to drive programme. We need volunteers to help Tibetan immigrants get the required number of hours as Learners to qualify to sit their driver’s test. We have a car and full insurance.  All we need is your time and an understanding attitude!

If you can help out, please complete the form at the bottom of this page or contact Jaz on 9977 1066 or jaz@cnb.org.au.

ESL CONVERSATION PROGRAMME - VOLUNTEER

Over 30 volunteers have been matched with a member of the Tibetan migrant community since the commencement of our ESL (English as a Second Language) Conversation Programme was launched last year. The programme involves a local volunteer whom is fluent in English meeting with a Tibetan migrant on a weekly basis in a public place that is convenient to both parties. The aim of the programme is to build English conversational skills so that new Australians are able to gain employment and successfully settle into a new country and culture. So far both sides of our programme are finding the experience extremely rewarding and forming wonderful friendships.

If you are interested, you may read the story of Kay and Tsering or Lorraine and Jigme, all of whom have thoroughly enjoyed their involvement in the programme.

If you are interested in finding out more please fill in the contact form at the bottom of this page or email jaz@cnb.org.au.
