Holiday Maths Clinic to Help Young Tibetans

The Community Northern Beaches’ Multicultural Service organised a Maths Clinic (tutorials) during the Summer school holidays 2019/20, for Tibetan students in grades 5, 6 and 7. We are operating a reduced service so that we can continue to support people. Following current social-distancing guidelines, we are still offering support to people who are facing a crisis, though we will be restricting face-to-face meetings.

Community Northern Beaches Has Moved!

On the 27 July, 2020 Community Northern Beaches entered a new phase of service to the Northern Beaches’ community when it relocated to 52 Raglan Street, Manly. After decades at Wentworth Street, in a building that has now outlived its usefulness, we have moved to a modern, well-designed office that will offer even more opportunity for our staff, volunteers, partners and clients.

What does an ESL Mentor do? The most important thing of all is simply to give your student the opportunity to talk English. Through relaxed conversation with their mentors, students get to practice their English language skills and learn more about our Australian customs, manners, sport, culture, current affairs and so on. The mentor doesn’t have to be an ‘expert’ in any of these things, and you don’t even need to have previous ESL, mentoring or teaching experience
